Applies to: United States.
For a US home-financing application, the estimate depends on the stage and whether the information needed for that stage is complete.
| Stage | Typical estimate | What must be ready |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-approval | 24–48 hours | All information needed to evaluate the application. |
| Final approval after appraisal and title | 4–5 days | Completed appraisal and title work, plus all other required information. |
| Start to completion | About 3–4 weeks | Prompt responses to document requests and no material third-party delays. |
Confirm whether a quoted period uses business or calendar days before relying on it for a closing deadline. These estimates cover different stages. The 4–5-day estimate does not include the time needed to obtain the appraisal or title work.
How do I check my next step?
Your processor prepares the file for underwriting, coordinates disclosures and collects any further documents. After the investor's initial approval, there may still be conditions and closing documents to complete.
Ask your processor which stage is complete, what remains outstanding, and whether your target closing date is still realistic. If you are waiting for disclosures, ask whether they have been issued and which financing partner will send them.
Signing or returning closing documents is also separate from setting up your payment account. Confirm the first collection date with the payment team before changing an existing payment instruction.
