Applies to: United States and Canada.
A bank or another financial institution may provide the funding for your Ijara transaction and require its own financing and security documents. Ijara provides the Islamic contractual structure alongside that financing.
Our home arrangement describes profit as rent on property. A financing provider's paperwork may also use terms such as “interest” or show a rate. To understand your transaction, review the financier's forms together with the trust, lease and purchase agreements. The wording on one form does not explain the complete arrangement.
What should I ask before signing?
Ask your processing team to explain:
- Which documents belong to the funding provider and which establish the Ijara arrangement.
- What a rate or interest reference means in the particular document you are reviewing.
- Which Sharia approval and contract version apply to your program.
For U.S. questions about Form 1003, identify the actual form and the wording you want explained. Start with our document review page and Sharia information, and ask how your own adviser can review the relevant documents.
