Applies to: United States and Canada.
Start with Ijara's Sharia Compliance and Fatwa page, then request the explanation and agreements for your country and proposed auto conversion. Ijara describes auto conversion as a Murabaha installment sale and refers customers to its conversion-related Sharia materials.
What should the explanation cover?
If your concern is how conversion relates to the original interest-bearing contract, ask the conversion team to explain that directly. The original lender agreement remains in place; the additional Ijara arrangement should not be understood as automatically cancelling it.
Request a written explanation of:
- How the Murabaha arrangement works alongside the original lender contract.
- How the sale price, profit and Ijara charges appear in your proposed agreement.
- What, if anything, changes in ownership, title or the parties' roles.
- Which ruling and agreement version support the explanation for your transaction.
If you have not yet obtained financing, raise that before making a commitment so the team can address the Sharia question in your actual circumstances.
How can I see the documents?
Use the document review page and follow its agreement/access steps, or request the applicable auto documents from the team. Ask about sharing them with your own Sharia adviser if you want an independent review.
A general Fatwa page is a starting point. Obtain answers to the specific contract questions you need resolved before signing.
